In recent years, however, large‑scale redevelopment has reshaped the area into a destination in its own right.

During the mid‑2010s, Mori Building began redefining central Tokyo with the development of Toranomon Hills, located a short walk southwest of Hibiya. Known for landmark projects such as Roppongi Hills, the Mori Group helped set a precedent for integrated, mixed‑use urban environments. Following that model, Mitsui Fudosan expanded its Tokyo Midtown brand beyond Roppongi, opening Tokyo Midtown Hibiya on the northwest edge of Hibiya Park.

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is a mixed‑use complex combining retail, dining, entertainment, and office space. The development is anchored by a Toho Cinemas complex and supported by a dense lineup of restaurants, cafés, and high‑end retail tenants. The concentration of dining options reflects the area’s role as a business hub, serving nearby government offices and corporate headquarters.

The cinema complex itself is a major draw. It features 13 screening rooms equipped with modern projection systems, 3D capabilities, Dolby Atmos sound, and a range of seating options including premium and box seating. An IMAX auditorium further positions the venue as one of central Tokyo’s leading movie destinations, with its location making it easy to combine a film screening with a meal before or after.

Beyond shopping and entertainment, the complex also offers public open space through the Sky Park, located on the sixth floor. This outdoor rooftop terrace provides unobstructed views of central Tokyo and the surrounding skyline. Facing primarily west, the space is well suited for late‑afternoon visits and sunset views, offering a quiet contrast to the activity of the streets below.

Together, these elements have transformed Hibiya from a primarily administrative district into a well‑rounded urban destination, blending culture, leisure, and business within a compact area at the heart of Tokyo.

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya
1 Chome-1-2 Yūrakuchō, Chiyoda-ku, Tōkyō-to 100-0006
Map: https://goo.gl/maps/kSukZexeTmB2
Access is dead simple since the basement floor connects directly to Hibiya station at both ends.
