{"id":3410,"date":"2019-02-20T16:27:09","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T07:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hrcjapan.com\/charity-groups-tokyo\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T11:34:52","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T02:34:52","slug":"charity-groups-tokyo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hrcjapan.com\/en\/charity-groups-tokyo\/","title":{"rendered":"Charity Groups and Events in Tokyo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-thumbnail wp-image-27667 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/earth-illustration-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"earth-illustration\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Tokyo is one of the most populous cities in the world, by some measures, the most populous. \u00a0 While all those people take some getting used to, think &#8220;crowded rush hour trains&#8221; for example, all those mouths create a market of impressive options as well, from the variety and quality of restaurant\u00a0and foods available, to the wide array of interest groups from sports to charity, if you can do it, you can likely do it in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, its nearly impossible to say how many charity groups and events happen in Tokyo in total, there are simply too many options available. \u00a0We will highlight a few here that our company has been involved with, but there are many more. \u00a0If you are interested in getting involved, do it!<\/p>\n<p>You can find a more complete list of charities and events here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charity-charities.org\/Japan-charities\/Tokyo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.charity-charities.org\/Japan-charities\/Tokyo.html<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Run for the Cure Foundation<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32494 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/logo-300x74.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"74\" \/>Run for the Cure Foundation, an organization promoting awareness of breast cancer in Japan, is holding their run\/walk event in December. This event is also held in Hibiya park, however they upped the distance to 5K\/10K run or a 5K walk. For a change of venue outside of Tokyo, they also are holding a similar event in Nozawa Onsen City in Nagano, a small and charming hot spring village located at the foot of Kenashi-yama Mountain. What better way to cap off a run, then enjoying a relaxing Japanese hot spring in the countryside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.runforthecure.org\/en\/\">www.runforthecure.org\/en<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Animal Walk Tokyo<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-33247\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/animal-walk-tokyo-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Animal Walk Tokyo was formed in 2010 by a small group of people living in Tokyo with a drive for helping the animals. Each person involved had a passion for contributing, but none\u00a0was able to find information in English on how to do so without adopting or fostering.<\/p>\n<p>AWT\u00a0started by holding fundraising events for local animal rescue groups. \u00a0We use our events to raise awareness among the local community that animals do suffer around us, and we can all help. \u00a0100% of all event proceeds are\u00a0used to donate food, medical supplies and transportation to rescue groups saving animals in our area.\u00a0In the Fall of 2013, we launched a new division focused on helping people find support for living with pets in Japan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/animalwalktokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.facebook.com\/animalwalktokyo<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Second Harvest Japan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-25079 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/second_harvest_japan_2HJ.gif\" alt=\"second_harvest_japan_2HJ\" width=\"156\" height=\"50\" \/>Second Harvest Japan distributes food to soup kitchens, orphanages, the elderly, emergency shelters, single mothers, the homeless, migrant workers, and many others. Check out their website for information about upcoming events, or how you can donate or volunteer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2hj.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.2hj.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tokyo English Life Line (TELL)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-33248\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/tell-lifeline-logo-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>TELL is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing world-class, effective support and counseling services to Japan\u2019s international community as well as helping to address the country\u2019s growing mental health care needs.<\/p>\n<p>You can give your time and talent in service to TELL, whether on the Lifeline, working on special projects, or at fundraising events. Volunteerism\u00a0is a great way to build your resume, learn about the needs in your community, meet new people, and most importantly, give back to the community.
