The Peanuts comic strip characters are popular in Japan but are collectively eclipsed by Snoopy, the dog, to the extent that most people probably couldn’t tell you who Charlie Brown is. All the Snoopy museums are dedicated to the art of Charles M. Schulz. The original founding museum— the Charles M. Schulz Museum—is located where Schulz lived in Santa Rosa, California.

The second exhibition at Snoopy Museum Tokyo, “Hello again, Snoopy,” started on October 8th, 2016, and ran until September 2018. After that, the museum reopened at a permanent location in Machida in 2019 on a plot twice the size of the original exhibition. There is much more greenery at the new location and a café and a gift shop for all of your Peanuts-related needs. In addition to the many wonderful exhibits showcasing the art and life of Schulz, they also offer interactive workshops where you can do things like making your own Snoopy plush doll.

This museum may not be the most Japanese thing on our list of recommendations, but it is a fun attraction with something for everyone to enjoy.
