If you are looking for a great day trip for you and your family or friends, you could do worse than get outside for a day in the park!<\/p>\n<h3>Okazaki Park, Okazaki City<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/okazakipark.com\/museum\/e-ryujyou\/kae171.htm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Okazaki_park_aichi-150x150.gif\" alt=\"Okazaki_park_aichi\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Okazaki Park includes Okazaki Castle<\/a>, the museum, and many historical points. For 300 years, Okazaki Castle has been honored as the birthplace of the revered local historical figure Tokugawa Iyeyasu and the cradle of the Tokugawa Shogunate.<\/p>\n<p>You can enjoy views of cherry blossoms and Japanese wisteria along the Oto River in spring, nearly unparalleled in the region; Okazaki Park is listed among &#8220;Japan&#8217;s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.&#8221; Another point to note is the <a href=\"https:\/\/ameblo.jp\/busho-tai\/\">&#8220;Great Ieyasu Kou Aoi Bushoutai&#8221; warlords<\/a> strutting around the park to entertain tourists in their armor. You can get photos with them, or see their show.<\/p>\n<p>While this park is about an hour outside Nagoya, you will find the scenery and relative peace of the park worth the trip out of town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/kttzn?OkazakiPark\">Okazaki Park\u00a0\u3012444-0052 \u611b\u77e5\u770c\u5ca1\u5d0e\u5e02\u5eb7\u751f\u753a\uff15\uff16\uff11\uff0d\uff11<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Higashiyama Park, Nagoya<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-25120\" style=\"margin: 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/higashiyama_botanical_nagoy-150x150.gif\" alt=\"higashiyama_botanical_nagoy\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/strong>Higashiyama Park includes\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.higashiyama.city.nagoya.jp\">Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens<\/a>, as well as a variety of smaller attractions, shops, and restaurants, in addition to the usual playgrounds, trees, and grass found in the standard park. This park, however, is anything but typical; it is vast, well-appointed, and well-cared for. Much thought has gone into it, and many special events occur there.<\/p>\n<p>You can feed animals at the zoo, sit under the blossoming trees (cherry, plum, wisteria, and apricot), or stroll through gardens filled with flowering plants. \u00a0 If that is not enough, there are 500+ species of animal at the zoo, including koalas, giraffes, and even a rare leopard, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.higashiyamaskytower.jp\">Higashiyama Sky Tower,<\/a> whose 360-degree view of the Nagoya skyline is among Japan&#8217;s most popular night views.<\/p>\n<p>Higashiyama Park has a dizzying array of things to see and do, so you will not likely see it all in one day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/PNJHI?HigashiyamaPark\">3-70 Higashiyama-motomachi, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Odaka Ryokuchi Park, Nagoya<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-25122\" style=\"margin: 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/odaka_ryokuchi_park_nagoya-150x150.gif\" alt=\"odaka_ryokuchi_park_nagoya\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Odaka Ryokuchi Koen is in Midori-ku in the southern part of Nagoya City. While the park is accessible by train, just a 5-min. walk from Sakyoyama (\u5de6\u4eac\u5c71) Station on the Meitetsu Line, the park is a bit out of the way and is most favored by those with access to a car. If you make the trip, it is well worth the effort.<\/p>\n<p>The park is drive-through and offers\u00a0 attractions worthy of a family outing, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Year-round campground<\/li>\n<li>Day campground (The sand sites without BBQ areas are free to use, no reservation required.)<\/li>\n<li>Japanese garden, stream garden, iris garden, plum tree grove, cherry tree grove<\/li>\n<li>Miniature golf<\/li>\n<li>Go-cart circuit<\/li>\n<li>Climbing wall (more for kids)<\/li>\n<li>Dog runs<\/li>\n<li>Paddle boats on Biwagaike Pond<\/li>\n<li>Playgrounds with &#8220;long and short&#8221; slides<\/li>\n<li>(Dinosaur Park)<\/li>\n<li>4 swimming pools<\/li>\n<li>tennis courts<\/li>\n<li>Baseball and soccer fields<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/2gwme?OdakaPark\">Takayama-1-1 \u014cdakach\u014d \u00a0Midori-ku, Nagoya-shi, Aichi-ken<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Meijo Park, Nagoya<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-25125\" style=\"margin: 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/meijo_park_castle_nagoya-150x150.gif\" alt=\"meijo_park_castle_nagoya\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Meijo Park includes \u00a0Nagoya Castle, Ofuse Pond, \u00a0Meijo Park Flower Plaza, Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, and the Nagoya City Archives. The park is conveniently located in Kita-ku, just a few minutes from Shiyakusho and Meij\u014d K\u014den Station on the Meijo Line.<\/p>\n<p>Mejio Park is a great place to see cherry blossoms in April, and wisteria in April and May. There are ball fields and playground equipment, and one of the most incredible things is a giant windmill in the middle of a tulip garden! While it lacks the &#8220;attractions&#8221; of our previous parks, it is a perennial favorite for hanami, jogging, and walks in the sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>[spacer height=&#8221;10px&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/YHPyy?MeijoPark\">\u3012460-0031 \u611b\u77e5\u770c\u540d\u53e4\u5c4b\u5e02\u5317\u533a\u540d\u57ce\u4e00\u4e01\u76ee<\/a><\/div>\n<p>[spacer height=&#8221;10px&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Ochiai Park Kasugai City<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-25126\" style=\"margin: 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/japaninfoswap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/ochiai_park_kasugai_nagoya-150x150.gif\" alt=\"ochiai_park_kasugai_nagoya\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Ochiai Park is best known for its 1ooo cherry trees representing 90 varieties of cherry (making the hanami season last longer than other places) and for the Kasugai Fireworks festival, held annually in July.<\/p>\n<p>It also features a large pond with a fountain lit in 7 colors after dark and what looks like a pumping station made of red erector set pieces.\u00a0 While quite large and well-appointed with ball fields and playgrounds, it is not easily accessible by public transportation.\u00a0 t is best reached by car or from Kasugai Station, but from there, it is&#8230; a hike.<\/p>\n<p>Get out there and play a bit, and let us know what you thought about these parks, or suggest alternatives if you feel your favorite spot is better than one or all of these.
