An electric current in the gas excites mercury vapor, which produces short-wave ultraviolet light that causes a phosphor coating on the inside of the lamp to glow. Fluorescent lamps require a ballast to regulate the current through the lamp, and a &#8220;glow lamp&#8221; or starter, which brings us to the topic today. The &#8220;glow lamp,&#8221; of fluorescent lights.\u00a0 We sometimes receive\u00a0 emails regarding\u00a0 fluorescent light problems such as:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe circular fluorescent light in the bathroom keeps flashing and does not turn on.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;From time to time, the light flashes a bit even after the tube was replaced.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[spacer height=&#8221;10px&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In these cases, there might be a problem with the glow lamp.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you are having problems, please look for a glow lamp in your light.
