\"EnglishJapan is a drinking country. You do not have to be here very long before you see your first “salaryman” passed out in front of the station, dead drunk at 7 in the evening. Its a fact of life in Japan, some people drink hard, and the same can be said of the foreign community in Japan as well, though we tend to pass out a bit later than 7. If you are in Nagoya and think you might have a problem ignoring the call of the wild chu-hai, there is help available in English.<\/p>\n

English-language A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous)<\/strong><\/p>\n

*<\/strong>AA Open Meetings happen every Sunday from 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the Mikokoro [Sacred Heart] Center, near Hisayaodori Station. From Hisayaodori subway station, go out Exit 1 (Starbucks). Walk north (you’ll see the elevated expressway in front of you), and cross two small streets until you reach the Otsubashi bus stop. Look across the street and you’ll see the Mikokoro Center.<\/p>\n
