If you are looking for decorations, lights, or other holiday materials there are a few good sources you should know about.<\/p>\n<h2>Costco (Wholesale Warehouse)<\/h2>\n<p>If you have a lot of gifts to wrap, you will need a lot of paper, and the best place to buy a lot of anything is Costco.\u00a0 You can get decorations and paper there, but you are looking at bulk sizing and a small selection to choose from.\u00a0 Unless you buy something expensive like a lawn reindeer, you may be better served elsewhere, but they do stock such things. Please note this is a membership required to shop at Costco.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.costco.co.jp\/store-finder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Website (English)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t make it to Costco, you may try&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>TheFlyingPig.com<\/h2>\n<p>Reasonable prices on imported groceries and general merchandise in Japan? When pigs fly! But that was before Costco Wholesale opened its doors here. Afterward, there were only two problems left: not everyone can get to a Costco warehouse very easily, and Internet ordering isn&#8217;t available. In a nutshell, TheFlyingPig.Com was launched to overcome these issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theflyingpig.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Website (English)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>100 Yen Stores<\/h2>\n<p>You can find 100 yen shops all over Nagoya in sizes that range from multistory standalone buildings to small kiosk-style corners in malls and supermarkets. One of my favorites is the Daiso on the 7th floor of the Skyle building in Sakae; they seem to have everything, and that includes holiday materials.\u00a0 Honestly that Daiso is the first place you should check.\u00a0 If it is there, it is bound to be the cheapest place to get it!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Daiso<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Daiso is most people\u2019s favorite, as they tend to be much bigger than other shops and hence offer a wider variety of goods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.daiso-sangyo.co.jp\/shop?prc=list&amp;cmd=search_pref&amp;sid=13&amp;pno=&amp;f_freeword=&amp;f_station_name=&amp;f_station_id=&amp;f_prefecture_id=&amp;f_section_id=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website (Japanese)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">While not as big as Daiso, these are still pretty big and offer a wide variety of goods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seria-group.com\/shop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website (Japanese)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lawson 100<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">These are kind of the low end of the scale. They offer significantly fewer small items, instead, they offer cheap foods. You can get some good seasonings and pre-packaged mixes there cheaply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-map.ne.jp\/p\/lawson\/#\/pref\/13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website (Japanese)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Shimo Jima (Variety, Office Supply, Stationery)<\/h2>\n<p>Shimo Jima is a wrapping materials wholesaler, who provides consumer products such as stationery and store decoration merchandise, as well as wrapping goods.\u00a0 The Fushimi\/Marunouchi area shop is many floors and holds a good chance of getting the decorations you are looking for, or a great chance if you are looking for &#8220;materials&#8221; like boxes, ribbons, etc.\u00a0 They are pretty cheap to top it all off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shimojima.co.jp\/eng\/shop.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Website (English)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Don Quijote (Cheap Variety Store)<\/h2>\n<p>Don Quijote stores are huge and seem to stock everything.\u00a0 Christmas decorations may be touch and go depending on which shop you try, but you can assume they will have SOMETHING for you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donki.com\/en\/store\/shop_list.php?pref=24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.donki.com (en)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Loft (Variety Store)<\/h2>\n<p>It is a great store and a fantastic place to kill a couple of hours as well as decorations and Christmas lights.\u00a0\u00a0 There are a couple of locations around including one in Sakae.\u00a0 I recommend the one in Sakae, it is significantly large!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loft.co.jp\/shop_list\/index.php?area=area_tokai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.loft.co.jp\/shoplist (Aichi)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Tokyu Hands (Variety Store)<\/h2>\n<p>I found Tokyu Hands described as \u201cthe description-defying Tokyo institution that sells just about everything you could ever need and is loved by everyone who visits,\u201d and I have a hard time arguing that.\u00a0 It is a great store and a fantastic place to kill a couple of hours.\u00a0 To repeat, it is also a great place to pick up costumes and accessories.\u00a0\u00a0 There are many locations around Tokyo and Japan; choose one!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tokyu-hands.co.jp\/en\/list\/chubu.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.tokyu-hands.co.jp (en)<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Home Centers<\/h2>\n<p>Home Centers, more often referred to as\u00a0&#8220;home improvement centers&#8221; or &#8220;hardware stores&#8221; outside of Japan, are where you buy&#8230;well, home and garden stuff. \u00a0You can find tools, plants, kitchen utensils and appliances, furniture, and other items for use in or use on your home or apartment.
