If you discount Curry Rice, it is perhaps Japan&#8217;s most popular fast food. I guarantee that it will be better if you make it at home, and it&#8217;s not that hard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four servings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 cups steamed rice<\/li>\n<li>1 lb thin sliced beef, cut to 2 inches<\/li>\n<li>1 onion, thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/3 cups dashi (fish stock) soup<\/li>\n<li>5 Tbsp soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>\u00a03 Tbsp mirin<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp sake<\/li>\n<li>Benishoga, pickled red ginger, *optional- this is a topping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prep:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Put dashi, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and sake in a large pan and boil on medium heat. Add onion slices and simmer for a few minutes or until softened. Add beef to the pan and simmer for a few minutes. Serve hot steamed rice in individual deep rice bowls. Put simmered beef on top of the rice.
