Spring doesn’t only bring cherry blossoms, it also brings tulips. These tulips can be found in Sakura City, Chiba at an event called Sakura Tulip Festa. I know, the name is confusing, but I assure you this uses different kanji from the pink flowers. As a bonus, these are the largest tulip fields you can find in the Kanto region.

The tulips, available in a dazzling array of colors, can be viewed at Sakura Furusato Square from March 27 to April 21. Its still a bit chilly here in March but April may be a perfect time to grab your camera and tiptop through the tulips. There are literally hundreds of thousands of flowers and roughly 100 varieties to view. There’s even an authentic Dutch windmill to further transport you to the tulip fields of the Netherlands.

If you worry that you’ll get bored by the tulips, there are boat rides, organ music on weekends, and plenty of food trucks and stalls set up to keep you occupied. And if you aren’t bored but rather are so enchanted by the tulips that you can’t stand to leave, the festival sells tulips for you to take home too.

Getting there makes for a fun day trip from Tokyo as well. You can reach Sakura within an hour from Keisei-Ueno Station, which is part of the the Keisei Main line. Once you reach Keisei-Sakura, you can then take a bus to the Sakura Furusato Square. Check the website for more information but if you’re feeling like something different to cherry blossoms, then this is the ticket for you. Best of all, there is no entrance fee, so it is free to attend!

Website: https://www.sakurashi-kankou.or.jp/flower/tulip/

Tvdp77, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons

So we’ve talked about plum blossom viewing and cherry blossom viewing, but what if I told you there is a third […]

[65,162,68
107,155,45
post-6120","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events","category-family-friendly","category-festivals","tag-family-fun","tag-march","tag-tokyo-metropolis-2
["GET
