June in Tokyo is many things—humid, energetic, packed with events. But this year, one celebration stands out with unapologetic sparkle: Tokyo Pride. Formerly known as Tokyo Rainbow Pride, the rebranded event now stretches across the entire month of June, aligning with global Pride Month and offering a full slate of events in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
If you’ve never attended before, think of it like a choose-your-own-adventure festival. Whether you’re in it for the parades, the parties, the panel discussions, the art shows—or all of the above—Tokyo Pride 2025 is ready to welcome you.
The Main Stage: Yoyogi Park
Things kick off June 7–8 with the Pride Festival in Yoyogi Park’s Event Plaza (11:00–18:00 both days). Expect booths from advocacy groups, LGBTQ+-friendly businesses, food stalls, and a steady rotation of live performances on the Pride Stage. It’s free, family-friendly, and fun.
June 8 is also the day of the Pride Parade, which begins at noon. Marchers will weave through Shibuya and Harajuku under this year’s theme: “Same Life, Same Rights.” Whether you’re walking or cheering from the sidelines, the energy is infectious. Registration is free but required for those who want to march.
After Dark and Beyond
On the evening of June 8, the celebration continues with Pride Night at AiSOTOPE LOUNGE (18:00–24:00). Expect a lively mix of music, dancing, and drag—Tokyo’s queer nightlife at its best.
For younger folks, Youth Pride takes over WITH HARAJUKU HALL on June 14–15. It’s part resource fair, part festival, and all about making space for LGBTQ+ teens and young adults to connect, explore, and celebrate safely.
Art lovers should mark their calendars for the Queer Art Exhibition, running June 6–18 at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “HaraKado.” Curated from public submissions, the show highlights voices and visions across the gender and sexuality spectrum.
Rounding out the month, the Human Rights Conference on June 22 at Shiseido Hanatsubaki Hall brings together activists and experts to discuss equality, policy, and progress.
