One of the most popular with English-speaking residents is the Hiroshima Peace Yoga sessions. These run out of two studios close to Hiroshima Station and are open to all, including foreign travellers. Classes include both yoga and mindfulness practices, and tuition is available in both English and Japanese. Sessions last one hour and are 5,500 yen per person.

Hot Spring Relaxation
Japan is well-known for its spa relaxation destinations where visitors can benefit from hot springs (onsen). There is an abundance of these natural springs across the country due to Japan being one of the most tectonically active places in the world. Since ancient times, people in Japan have cherished the healing qualities in soaking in these steaming baths. You can find many onsen resorts in Hiroshima, with one of the most soothing being at the Miyahama Grand Hotel, where you can relax in open-air communal baths while enjoying the mountainous scenery. Costs are 700 yen per session.

Forest Bathing
Forest bathing is a distinctly Japanese practice that has been exported globally for its wellness benefits. Essentially, it involves immersing yourself in nature and greenery to de-stress. Around two-thirds of Japanese land is forest, so it’s no surprise that people have sought to take advantage of simply hanging around and soaking up the sights and sounds. One of the best locations in Hiroshima is Mt. Futaba, just 10 minutes from Hiroshima station. You can stroll through lush trees, sacred Shinto shrines, and mountainous paths just a stone’s throw away from the busy city.
