Japanese food is famous, and we are perhaps lucky to live in a country in which the cuisine holds such high regard. Even with such a wealth of good food here, sometimes you crave “tastes like home.” Fortunately, if you are jonesing for a particular food or drink (or, often, snack!) from home, many supermarkets and specialty stores cater to international foods in and around Nagoya. As is the nature of such stores, the products on sale are predominantly imported and thus can come at a substantially higher cost than back home; however, they are growing increasingly popular with locals and ex-pats alike. COSTCO Wholesale Japan You probably already know this members-only giant grocery store that carries imported and Japanese goods. With its low wholesale prices and bulk quantities, Costco has become increasingly popular in Japan, regularly featuring on TV shows that marvel at the ‘American-sized’ goods on display.
